The two tables give information about why people decide to quit smoking and when they plan to do so.
Overall, most people leave smoking because of health problems whereas family pressure is their least concern. Only a few smokers decided to stop smoking within the next month.
The majority of smokers cite their overall health as their primary motivation for quitting, which is followed by financial problems accounted the reason for 31% of smokers while only one-fourth of the people decided to avoid smoking as a caution of preventing smoking related illnesses. The fact that heavy smokers identify current health issues nearly twice as that of light smokers. Barely 16% of smokers are influenced by family.
In terms of duration which people expected to get rid of smoking addiction, only 12 percent of smokers indicated that they are ready to quit within the next month, compared to 35 percent and 21% who said next six months and year respectively. Although only 29% of smokers in general are resistant for quitting, heavy smokers are nearly twice as resistant as light smokers.
