Essay 3 – Optimism (Complex Type)

Many people are optimistic of the 21st century and see it as an opportunity to make positive changes to the world. To what extent do you share their optimism? What changes would you like to see in the new century?

Unlike the past, the 21st century appears to be an evolutionistic period since we can see progressive development in every field. Therefore, I believe certainly, the century would be promising and expected to have positive changes in the coming years.

To begin with, the emerging field of science and technology favors the overall development of humankind. To explain, optimistically, we could look at our life expectancy, technological conveniences, high standard of living and the scientific breakthroughs we continue to make and pursue. For example, biotech to space exploration, robotics to artificial intelligence, and medicine to vaccines are remarkable advancements of the 21st century. Thus, the decade is providing huge expectations to the world.

In addition, I expect to see various revolutionary changes in the next century which could solve the issues of the present world. I hope, peace and harmony will be restored in humanity and solutions for various environmental issues such as global warming as well as pollution could be possibly solved. Apart from that, greater achievements could be anticipated in space science and the fuel industry. Therefore, I think the future would be brighter than the present as it could make drastic changes to the current problems.

To conclude, being optimistic is a choice, however, the development and progress of creativity and innovations in the 21st Century indicate that it would be a promising one. Also, I foresee that the next century could make effective remedies for today’s problems including environmental pollution and fuel scarcity.
